Very few overnights at Spirit. If you’re a lineholder you get the entire month off actually, with pay. If you’re a lineholder with a bot you can fly day trips on top of guarantee. Sweet deal here at spirit, might even get furloughed in October.

I can count on one hand the amount of 10hr overnights I’ve had in the years I’ve been here hell 12 hours is a bad layover. Count on 13-18hrs for the most part. Weirdly enough the shortest overnights I get are the ones after a red eye. YMMV.

Most days are 1 to 3 legs and super chill flying. You dont have to worry about min rest unless flight has a long delay. The only time you might feel over worked is if you do it to yourself by picking up extra flying. I would say the average is 13 to14hrs for short overnights and 20 to 22hrs for the long overnight but just a guesstimate. Short overnights are usually by the airport and long is usually downtown. That was all pre virus so who knows how it will be after it all.

I’ve not had any overnights for a month now. Wait, I’ve been at home for a month now. Next month looks pretty clear too

How is MX at Spirit? In previous years the FAA was investigating some flakey Spirit practices.

Looking at public records at FAA databases, Spirit has had issues. At least in the past, Many that others do as well, but seems a lot of larger issues that go public. I.E. More than 1 Fume event where a crew nearly passed out. Several engine failures. Flight control malfunctions. I've read that Heavy 'C' checks are outsourced in South America. Planes with multiple MEL's. Read some feedback from former Spirit Mechanics who indicated concerns with how Spirit was running their MX department.

What a pilot's perspective? I have heard in recent years, it's been improving, but the practice of 'pencil-whipping' airplanes back into service is not unheard of. I used to work for one such operator.

Real professional response. Your employer and co-workers must pouring with joy to have you. Or they only know the facade you portray at work but lie in anger, bitterness and resent behind closed doors and airline forums. I do doubt you would speak in such insulting tone in person and even if you did, would quickly find yourself in an undesirable meeting with your superiors.

Unfortunate I came here for insight only to learn APC (or at least this thread) is a dumping ground for the industry's negativity. I'll have my questions answered by a more professional group.

At least be safe and polite to your organization.
