AS POLICE CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE AT A HOME ON WINDING ROAD. IT’S THE AREA RIGHT BEHIND THOSE TREES. SEVERAL POLICE OFFICERS HAVE BEEN WALKING BACK DOWN THIS STREET CARRYING THEIR GUNS. WE’VE EVEN SEEN SOME COPS LEAVING THE SCENE. IT’S VERY DIFFERENT FROM WHEN WE FIRST GOT HERE ABOUT AN HOUR AGO. AND THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE. A POLICE CHASE HAPPENED IN THIS AREA. BEHIND THAT CAUTION TAPE, AS POLICE FOCUSED THEIR INVESTIGATION AT A HOME ON WINDING ROAD. THIS STARTED JUST AFTER 5:00. THAT’S WHEN POLICE SAY THEY RECEIVED A CALL FOR A CRASH INVOLVING ONE CAR. THEN ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, POLICE AT THE SCENE OF THE CRASH SAID THEY WERE CHASING THE SUSPECT ON FOOT AND MINUTES LATER, AN OFFICER HAD BEEN SHOT. RIGHT NOW, ALL WE KNOW IS THAT OFFICER THAT WAS SHOT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND IS IN STABLE CONDITION. WE’RE TOLD THAT SUSPECT IN THE CRASH THEN RAN INTO HIS HOME AND HAD BARRICADED HIMSELF INSIDE, CAUSING A SHELTER IN PLACE ORDER THAT WAS LIFTED ABOUT TEN MINUTES AGO. NEWS EIGHT DID GET A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH A NEIGHBOR WHO SAYS SHE’S KNOWN THE SHOOTER FOR FOUR YEARS, ADDING THAT SHE WAS SHOCKED WHEN SHE HEARD WHAT HAPPENED. I GOT PHONE CALLS FROM NEIGHBORS ASKING ME IF I WAS OKAY. I GOT PHONE CALLS FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY TELLING ME TO STAY BARRICADED, BUT I WAS AT TEXAS ROADHOUSE. YEAH, SO YEAH, I GOT A LOT OF PHONE CALLS TONIGHT. I ALSO WANT TO MENTION WHEN WE FIRST ARRIVED ON THE SCENE, WE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE GUNSHOTS. BUT AGAIN, POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING UP THERE. Authorities have released the name of a man shot and killed by police Sunday night in Pottstown, Montgomery County. Investigators said Andrew Ecker, 25, was involved in a two-car crash. Pottstown police responded. Ecker tried to grab a gun inside his vehicle, which led to a struggle with officers, investigators said. One of the officers was shot in the shoulder.The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Police say Ecker eventually ran off and barricaded himself inside a nearby relative's home.Around 11 p.m. Sunday police shot and killed Ecker.
